Community Relations
We are very concerned about ensuring a transparent and responsible relationship with stakeholders and communities within our area of influence.
In order to maintain good relations with the local communities, we engage in ongoing communication with property owners, public bodies and other stakeholders – promoting open and collaborative dialogue. To that end, we have communicators on the ground, who make periodic visits and attend to the demands of the community – clarifying doubts and strengthening ties between the company and the people who live within the direct impact of the pipelines.
Our community relations are based on three main pillars:
- Monitoring the Environmental Education Program and building works, related to the licensing procedures.
- Ongoing communication with the owners of the land where the pipeline rights of way are established, and maintaining a presence in the zone, with the emphasis on direct action when dealing with critical owners.
- Participation in and monitoring of sponsored social projects in the local communities.
Stimulated Social Projects
Investments in sponsored social projects since 2017:
• 142 projects
• + R$ 120 million invested.
• + 280,000 people directly benefited.
• Active in 92 municipalities within the states of RJ, SP and MG.
At NTS, we believe that supporting social projects is crucial to promoting development, inclusion and the building of a fairer, healthier and more sustainable society. We are concerned about returning part of our human and financial resources to the population. Consequently, we seek to provide opportunities for education, health, culture and citizenship – helping to reduce inequalities and improve the quality of life of these people.
NTS invests in a sound program to support social projects sponsored under the incentive laws – contributing to initiatives that seek to guarantee access to culture, sports, income generation and improving the quality of life of the populations in the 92 municipalities along the course of our gas pipelines. Since the beginning of the program, in 2017, more than 250,000 people have benefited directly within the municipalities where we operate. In total, we have invested more than R$ 120 million on 142 social projects.
We act strategically so that our investments are enhanced within the areas of direct influence (ADI) that are in most critical need. In view of this, 89% of the activities are currently developed within such locations and the target audience was mainly minors, who live in places with poor infrastructure and high rates of violence. Another emphasis given was that 1/3 of the sponsorships should developed accessibility, professional training for PwDs and inclusion in the job market.
